Who We Are

What Personal Data We Collect and Why

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the information shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

  • An anonymized string created from your email (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it.
  • Once your comment is approved, your profile picture (if linked through Gravatar) will be visible publicly alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract such location data from your images.

Contact Forms

If you submit personal information through our contact forms, we collect the details you provide (such as your name, email, and message) to respond to your inquiry.

Cookies

  • If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. These last for one year.
  • A temporary cookie is set when you visit our login page to test whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when the browser closes.
  • Login cookies last 2 days; screen display option cookies last 1 year. If you choose “Remember Me,” login persists for 2 weeks. Logging out removes the cookies.
  • If you edit or publish an article, an extra cookie will be stored in your browser. It contains no personal data and simply records the post ID. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Content on this site may include embedded material (e.g., videos, images, articles). Such embedded content behaves exactly as it would if you visited the external site directly.
These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content, including if you are logged in to that site.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools to review traffic patterns and visitor behavior to improve our website.

Who We Share Your Data With

  • Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
  • If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.

How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that we can auto-approve follow-up comments instead of holding them for moderation.
  • For users who register, their personal information in their profile is stored indefinitely. Website administrators can edit or delete profiles.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request:

  • An exported file of the personal data we hold about you.
  • That we erase any personal data we hold, except for information we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where We Send Your Data

Comments and some form submissions may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
